About Ashley

Ashley Walker Anderson holds a Master’s Degree in Dance Education from the University of Northern Colorado and a BFA in Dance Education from East Carolina University. She is currently a Teaching Professor at ECU in the School of Theatre and Dance and the Dance Director at Apex Friendship High School.
Ashley received her pre-professional dance training from Robb Beaman, Patricia Warren, and Kim Saad, and trained at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Ballet. She attended North Carolina Governor’s School and was invited to dance with the Joffrey Ballet.
Under the direction of Rodger Belman, Ashley performed works by Laura Dean in New York City. Upon graduating from ECU, she accepted the position of Dance Director at Garner Magnet High School.
Ashley has received a ballet teaching certification from the Royal Ballet School in London, is a certified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) teacher, and holds a certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Cornell University. She served as the Dance Director for the award-winning performing arts program, Carolina Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA), and has been on faculty at various private dance studios across North Carolina.

As a dance educator, Ashley is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment where every person is respected and valued. She prioritizes providing proper technical training in a healthy and loving environment.
