About Ashley
Ashley Walker Anderson received her pre-professional dance training from Robb Beaman, Patricia Warren, and Kim Saad, and trained at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Ballet. She attended North Carolina Governor’s School and was invited to dance with the Joffrey Ballet.
Ashley received a BFA in Dance Education from East Carolina University, and under the direction of Rodger Belman, performed works by Laura Dean in New York City. Upon graduation, she accepted the position of Dance Director at Garner Magnet High School in Garner, North Carolina. She received a ballet teaching certification from the Royal Ballet School in London, is a certified Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) teacher, and has a certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Cornell University. She is currently in graduate school pursuing her Master’s Degree in Dance Education at the University of Northern Colorado. Her current research focuses on developing a comprehensive framework for dance education in university programs, with a particular emphasis on preparing dancers to be effective teachers in private studios, K-12 classrooms, professional dance companies, and beyond.
As a dance educator, Ashley is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment where every person is respected and valued. She prioritizes providing proper technical training in a healthy and loving environment.
Ashley is currently the Dance Director and choreographer for the award-winning performing arts program, Carolina Academy of Performing Arts in Apex, North Carolina, and has served as a faculty member for private dance studios across North Carolina. She is currently choreographing, teaching, and offering private lessons for students of all levels.
